The Clash – london calling

london calling front

This again is an iconic album, not only because of its coverart but also because of its content. This is THE The Clash album, with hits like London Calling, Rudie Can’t Fail and The Guns Of Brixton. Maybe The Clash wasn’t actually a punk band, but they were punk for sure!
Only take a look at the most important coverphoto in rock history: a blurry image by Pennie Smith of Clash bassist Paul Simonon, smashing his Fender Precision Bass to the stage at The Palladium in New York on 21 september 1979. This is rock ‘n roll in live action!
The Graphic design (with the bold pink and green typography) was heavily inspired by Elvis Presley’s debutalbum.
What else is there to say. If you don’t own this album, just make sure you get a copy.
